Toronto holidays offer a huge amount of Canadian flavour where a bustling cosmopolitan city meets every conceivable need for travellers who seek fun sightseeing, great local amenities and cultural activities. The provincial capital of Ontario, Toronto is Canada's largest city, located on the edge of Lake Ontario bordering the US.

Largely known as the commercial hub of Canada with huge banking interests, Toronto is also an extremely leisurely and lovely place to visit. The Old City, generally known as Downtown has many wealthy areas and quirky neighbourhoods - there are 2 Chinatowns, Greektown, Little Italy, Portugal Village, Little India and more! There is even Distillery District, a national heritage site, but today, the city still has a thriving microbrewery industry. Take a quick 10 minute ferry ride to the Toronto Islands for great views of the city's skyline or stay lakeside to enjoy waterfront entertainment.

Some wonderful attractions include the CN Tower (recently nominated One of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World) where thrill-seekers can do the "Edgewalk" and walk hands-free on the outer ledge of the Tower - strictly for those with a great head for heights though; Roger's Centre with its retractable roof as a venue for sports and concerts; Eaton Centre, the largest shopping mall in the city and St Lawrence Market, deemed one of the world's 25 best food markets by Food & Wine magazine. Toronto offers unique shopping opportunities too as the city is so ethnically diverse.

Culturally rich, Toronto's fantastic performing arts scene has theatres, galleries, 2 symphony orchestras, museums, opera, ballet, ceramics, textiles and Inuit art. The Royal Ontario Museum and Toronto Zoo are really worth visiting too. The city has wonderful public spaces including lovely squares (Nathan Phillips Square, Yonge-Dundas Square and Harbourfront Square) and lovely public parks.

Don't forget too that a day trip to Niagara Falls (aboard "Maid of the Mist") is the chance of a lifetime to see another of the world's natural wonders and it is easily accessible from Toronto. Go Maple Leaf!

Aer Lingus operates direct flights from Dublin to Toronto and we offer a choice of hotels in the city, so a terrific Toronto holiday or brilliant short city break is now possible from Ireland.
