Destinations / Italy / Sorrento and Amalfi Coast / Maiori
The history of Maiori is lost back in the mists of time, but we know it has been a tourist resort even since Roman times. A quieter cousin of some of the other Amalfi Coast resorts, hotels in Maiori are ideal for a laid back, relaxing and friendly holiday in Italy.
The town's biggest claim to fame is the fact that it has the longest unbroken stretch of beach on the entire coastline, so visitors flock here to enjoy Maiori, a lovely local town that misses most of the uglier side of commercialism.
A lovely tree-lined promenade fronts a pretty good sandy beach and, with lots of sightseeing opportunities, good cafes and shops, Maoiri can bustle with life with the best of them!
Very local in feel, Maiori is quite traditional and the people are open to visitors and are extremely welcoming and courteous. Not lacking the beauty of its neighbouring Amalfi Coast resorts, holidays to Maiori are guaranteed to offer real Italian hospitality, great cuisine and, of course, lovely weather.
Roberto Rossellini brought great excitement to Maiori when he filmed some of his movies here and, every year in November, a film festival is celebrated at which the "Premio Internazionale Roberto Rossellini" is awarded.
Maiori does not have any direct flights, but flights from Dublin to Naples serve the area well. We provide a choice of good hotels in the resorts of Ravello, Amalfi and Positano too. Don't forget stunning Sorrento either and be sure to check out our range of hotels.
