Often referred to as one of the most picturesque villages of Costa de la Luz, El Rompido is a traditional fishing hamlet where tourism is now an important economic factor. Firmly on the map for Spanish holidays, El Rompido is a little corner of heaven.
The population explodes during the summer months as holidaymakers discover the delights of a Spanish holiday resort that delivers on beaches, watersports, lovely landscapes and a dollop of local custom and culture. Scenery in this part of Andalucia will knock your socks off with the sheer raw, natural beauty at practically every corner.
Located in the municipality of Cartaya at the mouth of the Piedras river, El Rompido was only "born" in the 1960's for holidays to Spain when the first tourists arrived to discover its many charms. Now, delicious food, emerald green golf courses and an array of water based activities all combine to make this new kid on the block a marvellous holiday resort where local and tourist live together in happy harmony.
We have a choice of hotels in Costa de la Luz, including the resorts of Islantilla, Isla Canela and Isla Cristina. There are no flights to El Rompido, but regular direct flights from Ireland into Faro airport guarantee this little jewel is easily accessible.
