Alternatively, leave the shade of the mountains and take a day at sea. All along the coast, tourist boats offer excursions to the diverse islands of Brac, Hvar, Vis and Korcula, often with a meal featuring the fresh catch of the day included in the price. On a Makarska holiday, it's easy to hop on the ferry to visit the culturally rich and peaceful island of Brac. Head further south to the ferry port of Drvenik to reach the equally pretty Hvar. If you only have a day, rent a car to get around or simply grab some lunch near the pier and enjoy the relaxed pace of island life.
