Destinations / Ski, Lakes & Mountains / Kitzbuhel (Austria)
A leading ski resort in Austria, Kitzbuhel holidays are quite sophisticated, very cosmopolitan and great fun. A highly popular skiing destination, visitors throng to the area as it is known as much for its superb skiing opportunities as its vibrant nightlife and apres ski scene! Part of the Austrian Tyrol, Kitzbuhel is a medieval town nestling in the Kitzbuhel Alps and the picturesque town is about 100 klms from the state capital, Innsbruck.
The two main areas of skiing are the Kitzbuhler Horn and the Hahnenkamm (which hosts the World Cup Downhill race) and there is an extensive web of connecting lifts which link some of the surrounding villages of Jochberg, Kirchberg and Passthurn. This ensures great scenery and great diversity in the terrain. A marvellous Aquarea centre in the resort provides a fun pool, saunas and mud baths, so family friendly frolics are guaranteed.
Subjects to in Kitzbuhel are not all about skiing as the resort is glamorous, but also informal, casual and quite laid back for a genuinely relaxing break. Nightlife is fairly exciting with many lively options (and yes, there is even an Irish bar!). There are lots of excellent restaurants, both typically Austrian and ethnic too and the town even has a casino. Definitely a destination for the jet set in years gone by, the resort still attracts the glitterati as they flock for the international races on the Hahnenkamm. Long live the "glitz of Kitz"!
Although there are no direct flights into Kitzbuhel, Aer Lingus operates regular flights into Munich and we provide an array of accommodation options.
